Lodging & Camping at the Dash

Check it out. Lodging for the Dash features some nice local places.

Coachman Inn was a sponsor of the 2009 Dash – in Oak Harbor http://www.thecoachmaninn.com/index.html Special note for Coachman Inn guests: You GOTTA go next door to Frank’s Place for breakfast. Frank is from Hawaii and really digs two things: US Military collectibles, and SPAM. Pretty much every menu item can be ordered with Spam. And Elvis is just outside the door (unless he’s traveled to a gig in town).

The Cap Sante in Anacortes was also a sponsor of the 2009 Dash. http://www.capsanteinn.com/

Or try the Fidalgo Inn on Hwy 20 where you turn to head south for DP - http://www.fidalgocountryinn.com/

The closest lodging to the Dash is Campbell Lake Lodge - http://www.lakecampbelllodging.com/index.php

Or, if you’re going to tough it out and camp, the campsite loop at Bowman Bay next to the start-finish line is closed for the season. But the main campground across the bridge is open all year and you can get more info at:

http://www.parks.wa.gov/parks/?selectedpark=Deception%20Pass …just be clear on the warnings about the Sound of Freedom from NAS Whidbey down the road. The north end of the runway is just 2.5 miles from the park and you may hear jets any time of day or night.

The Fidalgo-Whidbey area is a beautiful place. Take your time and look around.
